Antec USB Powered Notebook Cooler

The Antec USB Powered Notebook Cooler is single handedly the greatest add on I've ever purchased for my laptop. If you own a laptop, one of the most important things is keeping it cool, by doing so you're going to increase the life of it. Before I bought a cooling pad, my laptop would shut down without notice and freeze up. This was not only frustrating, but sometimes resulted in me losing work.
I even tried a different usb-powered cooler, but it failed horribly. My computer still overheated and the noise of the fan was annoying. I decided that there had to be better cooling pad for my laptop after I tested several different brands of cooling pads. Luckily I was correct.
The Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler works in a completely different way then coolers in the past. Instead of blowing air onto the laptop (along with dust), it creates airflow between it and the computer. It utilizes the space to draw in hot air and blow it out through a vent on the back of the gadget. The cooler has two convenient settings, low and high. If I'm in the library or a place where I need the cooler to be quiet, I simply turn on the low setting.
The cooling pad has a slick aluminum finish on the top and also exactly fits my laptop (and it's a 17 inch). My laptop sits soundly on top of 4 rubber feet, that are connected to the cooling pad. The cooler does raise my laptop up around 2 inches off the ground however it's easily worth it for the additional time on my laptop. The cooler has a bright blue light that tells you it's on and working properly. The cooler is setup for a left-sided connection to the USB, so if you're USB port on your laptop is on the right side, you may have to buy an extension cable.
I've been using my Antec USB-Powered Notebook Cooler for about 1 month now and I can tell you first hand that it works great. I wonder now how long my last laptop might have lasted if I'd had a cooler that truly worked like this one.
UPDATE 2/11/2010 - I'm still in love with this amazing cooling pad. In fact, the kid came home from college and tried it out on his Mac Book Pro. My son actually fell in love with the cooler so much he begged me to take it back with him to school. I ended up letting him and I ordered a new one from Amazon that same day. The kid's Mac Book gets even hotter than my HP and he's tried coolers before without success, so this one's a winner for both of us.
